plurk vs. twitter

i do have accounts on both microblogging sites and i always enjoy the features of both. so now i'll try to decipher some differences on my POV.

on PLURK:

i heard about it through Ms. Pia Magalona, i saw some boxes on her multiply site showing her updates on plurk and then i was curious. i created an account on march but never got the nerve to open it again coz i thought it was boring since i don't have friends who own accounts there. until a friend of mine finally uses plurk. the interface is so teeny-like, the icons and timeline and some navigation are intended more for the teens. it's like a chatroom na rin coz you can send in responses to the one you're following and they have cool emoticons!!! the KARMA is really a motivation-drive coz the member needs to be active on plurking, updating profiles and pictures, invite friends and have fans in order to raise their karma up and enjoy the additional features of plurk. for philippines based plurkers, they have a site called phplurk where you can update your timeline using SMS. meaning plurking is just a text away!! their gateway numbers are on smart and globe too so if you're registered on an unlimited service, no charge! but i do have encountered troubles on phplurk coz there're times that they post my phplurks later than the time i sent it or worse, don't even post it at all. according to them, they're on beta so we have to be gentle--fine, i thought. i think they also offer mobile applications which is much too convenient for those who're always out and loves to plurk just like the magalona's--they're famous on the site and in fact im following them. although, plurk is also surrounded by posers! but in reality, they have less celebrity users--if i've searched it right. ;p

on TWITTER

i know twitter even before im into plurk but i just recently had my account there and i never thought it would be that entertaining. twitter's interface is much more professional-like with less kaartehan compared to plurk's. but i think plurk has a better offer when it comes to responses coz it's sorted on your update and you just have to arrow down to read those while twitter is quite messy with all these direct messaging. in spite of it, i so love twitter's elegance and the people hanging out in there--cool-NESS!! i must commend, twitter has better mobile services than plurk, with it's 20 options to choose from. same as above, they also have phtwitters for filipinos and i've availed that one instead since none of the twitter mobile is applicable on my pathetic phone. good news, phtwitters is kinda more responsible than phplurk coz the updates are simultaneously posted by the time you sent it. and im glad that day by day, i gain more followers on twitter which is the exact opposite when it comes to plurk. plus plus plus, i stumbled upon some celebrities who runs twitter too and that was so fun to read their updates. ;p

***well, inspite of the evolution of blogging to microblogging. i'd still be loyal on the real blogging sites with infinite characters and cool dashboard. but i won't hate the microblogging sites anyhow coz above all, it's the trend on the web!
